Aerial silk is one of the newest circu’s practices.

It is no more than 30 years. There is no evidence of who has been its inventor. It’s believe it has been created from an advancing techniques from the vertical rope. Some suggest that the cloth comes from performances by artists who were hung in the background of the stages of the tents or in the theaters.

It’s considered one of the most plastic techniques, with more visual charm and more creative. Perhaps that is why this practice has been so successful.

Today we can find people practicing this modality outside spaces typically from circus, like gyms, clubs, theaters, dance studios, schools and discos. The silk acts involve vertical forces, there are no swing. All movements, figures, knots, drops, falls or dive are made on the vertical axis of the fabric.
